The theme
for this years "Planes of Fame"
Air Show is going to be "Fighter
Command" the Museum's flying
activities will include everything from
the World War I British Sopwith Camel and
German Fokker Dr.1 Triplane to World War
II fighters, vintage jet fighters and
even modern supersonic fighter-bombers.
Some of the highlights will include a
U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight
demonstration featuring an F-16 Fighting
Falcon flying together with World War II
U.S. Air Force aircraft and a U.S. Navy
Legacy Flight pairing up an F/A-18 Hornet
with a World War II U.S. Navy F8F
Bearcat.
Perhaps the most anticipated
fighter flybys will be the 'Planes of
Fame' Boeing P-26A Peashooter and the
Seversky AT-12 Guardsman. These 1930s
fighter planes are the only flyable
examples of their types in the world and
have not been in the sky for quite a
while
In spite of the show's
fighter theme, bombers and other types of
combat aircraft will also take part in
the event. In particular, they will work
together with the fighters during
scheduled Airpower Flight mass flyovers
featuring about two dozen warbirds in the
air at the same time.
The very first permanent air
museum in the American West and a pioneer
in the concept of restoring display
aircraft to flying condition, The Air
Museum 'Planes of Fame' is celebrating
its 50th anniversary this year. Staffed
primarily by a core of dedicated
volunteers its operations are funded
primarily by donations and admission
fees. The Museum also has a special
membership program available to the

membership being the opportunity to
experience the thrill of orientation
flights in genuine warbirds

Show is $18.00, youngsters 5-11 will be
admitted for $5.00 and admission will be
free for accompanied children under five.
