"What Could Have Been"

First Raced in 1986, the brainchild of John Sandberg -Tsunami- was a beauty. Both Sandberg and the airplane were lost in a tragic accident after the 1991 National Championship Air Races. The airplane sits high on the list in the netherworld of "what could have been."

This picture, taken by photographer Neal Nurmi at the 1991 event shows the airplane during practice and qualifying on the Monday before the races began. The airplane and her owner were lost a few days later on the return flight from Reno after the races.

Tsunami is slated for inclusion in the upcoming flight simulation, Xtreme Air Racing, scheduled for release in September of this year. We may never know what could have been in reality but the airplane will live on in the memory of all who ever saw her.
