By very careful attention to blueprinting and balancing, these engines are run at upwards of 4300 rpm, which is (part of) how a 100 hp motor can propel these pocket rockets at 250+ mph. In recent years much attention has been paid to the design of tuned 4 into 1 header exhausts, as in Eric Matheson’s hot Cassutt, the "Yellow Peril."
