Another great airplane that can, unfortunately, only be regarded as a dark horse candidate, is Jim Miller’s beautiful "Pushy Cat". This airplane took a championship at Reno 1990, so "Pushy Cat" was the last Gold winner before the spectacular reign of "Nemesis". It was always very much in contention from 1987 through 1994, qualifying as fast as 248 mph. In the Reno 1991 Gold Race, "Pushy Cat" finished second to "Nemesis" at 242.213 mph., which actually was faster than the record Gold Race speed up until that time. Since 1994 "Pushy Cat" has actually gotten slower as owner/builder Jim Miller has tried modification after modification to try to beat "Nemesis". The potential is obviously there – but.....
