Another beautiful formation shot by Mark Johnston. Heat waves shimmer out of the exhaust of the two MiG’s. Heat caused by the very rapid consumption of fuel by these hungry jet fighters!

Operating costs in the range of $1000 per hour is the price of admission for flight in these classic Russian beauties.

(note: this would NOT include the extra fuel consumed while in afterburner, which is an astonishing amount!)
