BLUES

<phew> what a pair of weeks! It seems we either have nothing to cover, or a string of events that merit our attention. Weekend before last, I had the privilege of spending the day on a photo mission with AAFO.COM photographer, Sue Petersen, at the annual Rose Festival Air Show. From our vantage point on the catwalk of the Hillsboro Airport Control Tower, (thanks to tower chief, Rick Chisolm) we had the best seats in the house!

With Sue there and with me using a completely new technique in photography (turn the stupid camera on manual and listen to Neal and Sue!) we had a large batch of good shots to choose from. This week, just as a "teaser" for the upcoming appearance of the US Navy Flight Demonstration Team, "Blue Angels," at The Reno National Championship Air Races, I just had to run this shot of the classic "Blues" Diamond formation. If you're in admiration of a tight formation ... check the position of Blue 1's wings over Blue 2 and 3's canopies, as well as 2 and 3's wing lineup... Not to mention Blue 4's line up on the other three... Perfect.... absolutely perfect.

As I said earlier, there have been a number of events that we've managed to have in our coverage list this summer.. Oshkosh being the premier event! Mark S. Daniels has just landed at RNO this evening and has a batch of film to run through the lab... Stay tuned for MUCH more from that event, as well as from the Rose Festival Air Show.. Also, I spent this weekend covering a slightly different "flying" sport.. Unlimited Hydroplane Racing and though they are boats... they DO fly! Depending on how well the results of the shoot turn out.. stand by for some very low flying action from that event...
