How often
are you privileged to be a witness to the
birth of an air race? The answer is
obvious... NOT OFTEN ENOUGH!
Those of
us who came early to Tunica, Mississippi,
have not only been getting treated to the
wonderful southern hospitality of the
people here, we have been watching the
"ramping up" process for this
brand-new Air Race!
Located in
the lush farm land of Tunica County, The
Tunica Airport has grown very rapidly
under the expert management of Cliff
Nash. The birth of this new venue for air
racing here at this mid-south casino
capitol will likely increase the growth
rate even further.
The photos for this report
are from Monday and Tuesday... As I write
this story from the lobby of the Tunica
Airport, overhead are SIX unlimited
airplanes, just in from California!
Recent
word from Ron Buccarelli is that he will
make it in from his weathered in location
in Florida by the deadline for entry...
I'll put captions with the pop up
enlargements so ya'll will know what's
going on here in Tunica.
I've not
counted yet today but there are also
plenty of T-6's and IF1's here to make
this a grand event, indeed!
Given that I can't write and
shoot at the same time, I'm going to keep
this report somewhat short and just say
that the people here are FANTASTIC! The
staff here at the airport and with the
Tunica Air Races are TOP NOTCH!
The hotels
in Tunica, Mississippi, are clean,
modern, well staffed and there are rooms
left! If you can be here, you MUST get
here!
