Monday's
first day of qualifications saw mishaps
and, perhaps, an early taste of glory?
Mike brown
took the clock during the second
qualification period and turned in
478.512 MPH during the second qualifying
session on Monday.. will that be enough
to hold the pole?
Earlier in the day, Ron
Buccarelli had to abort after Lyle
Shelton's Rare Bear decided to hiccup,
twice as he was attempting to take off.
Last report of the evening from the crew
was.. "carb".
Dreadnought slides into an
"unofficial" second place at
444.383 MPH. Merlin's Magic puked an
engine during her run...
Bob Button turned in 435.924
MPH in his "Sparrow" engined
Voodoo. I spoke with Will Whiteside's
crew chief, Chris Farinha and he
mentioned something in the range of the
370's for "Steadfast" (we'll
have to clarify their exact speed in a
later update.
Robert "Hoot"
Gibson set a very nice 426.980 MPH for
his time as of today.. The above results
may well change, these are speeds that
were taken from the results board in the
RARA hangar at the end of the day. Errors
may be present and they are considered
unofficial at this time of writing.
