"Miss Merced 2001?"

With the listing of this historic racing airplane for sale, the question becomes: "will the photogenic Miss Merced return for another go at the pylons of Reno?"

The beautifully prepared "Miss Merced" was probably the most photographed airplane at Reno 2000. Expert preparation by the Sanders Brothers racing shop, complete with the "flame job" of her racing past and the amazingly low "photo passes" of her pilots, made Race 87 a photographers favorite every time she passed a camera.

Airplanes come to racing and airplanes leave. One can only hope this one, should it be sold, is bought by someone with a racers heart and a desire to be first. We'll keep out fingers crossed.
